MOM ON HER NEW FACELIFT WITH DR. ADRIAN YI

After seeing the masterful plastic surgery work Dr. Adrian Yi did on Mom, I was finally ready to handle my deviated septum. Dr. Yi's contact information is listed below if you scroll down.

DEVIATED SEPTUM

I was born with a relatively cute button nose, until it collided with a football in elementary school.

Despite imperfections, I've lived 43 years with a nose that seemingly never deterred hot "straight" ladies from wanting that rogue lesbian experience.

For the past 10 years my nasal breathing has progressively worsened. Every night I use a fan to open the passageways while I sleep, my homeopathic membrane shrinking alternative to Afrin.

Since the age of 16, Mom periodically offered rhinoplasty, but it wasn't until last year, when I popped open a cabinet door into my face, that I took her up on it. With my new swollen beak reflecting back at me, it was urgently time to visit Mom's new Messiah and phenomenal plastic surgeon Dr. Adrian Yi in Encino, California.

This was one of the best decisions of my life. Not only can 'the worst deviated septum the Dr. had ever seen' breathe much better, but I am incredibly pleased with my new profile. Dr. Yi's rare blend of perfectionism and class is equally as impressive as his brilliant artistry. From my observations, he exceeds the talents of Beverly Hills surgeons while priced significantly lower - it's that 15 minutes North that allows him to offer the very reasonable fees.

I don't know why Hollywood is so ashamed to fess up to a nose job. Fuck "character" I should have done it years ago!

The surgery was a breeze, not a single complication, although, breathing through the mouth for 5 days while my nose was packed post-surgery, prompted a first dance with Xanax and Ambien prescriptions. As forewarned, the pharmaceuticals brought on wicked nightmares (the usual yet HD enhanced - sweaty chase scenes; scaling walls and hurdling jagged fences.) I ended up regifting the meds for Christmas and endured the panic attacks naturally.

As I am happily married and a contentedly unsocial shut-in, I haven't had the chance to see if my new symmetrical appearance garners more attention. Strangely enough, I've had several people ask if my "attitude has changed." It seems odd to me at 43, that the old douch swan emerges and anyone gives a shit? Really?

*A second bow down to Dr. Yi for zapping lifelong freckles right off my face and chest in a single round. I no longer take in the sun and my skin has had a huge healthy transformation. I'm sharing my experiences because in a country bubbling over with unapologetic mediocrity, it's unusual when someone surpasses your expectations. I have never felt more confident with a recommendation. Dr. Yi is a master and a mench.

MAKING OF MY HISTORIC FREEDOM TO MARRY BILLBOARD:
* Check out the old shnoz! (No audio)

The making of the billboard was shot on 16mm film by Matt Sohn. The posting of the billboard was shot on Hi-8 video by Jill Abrams. The billboard was painted by Raphael Valencia and it was all made possible by the great Rick Robinson who was creative director of Outdoor Systems - Billboards at the time.

MOM APPLIES "THE SECRET" TO AGING

This video is one of my favorites on youtube because this is classic MOM, telling it precisely how it is. I love you Mom. To see all of my "MOM ON" videos, go to www.youtube.com/jillabrams or check out my book and interests at www.myspace.com/jillabrams

MOM RIPS APART CELEBRITY:

This was the very first video Mom and I did together for youtube and it elicited lots of attention and new fans. We have been contacted by Network Television a handful of times and we're considering several possibilities although admittedly we're not terribly ambitious about it. Answering to no one allows us to be as irreverant as we please. As I posted on youtube, Mom and I don't necessarily share identical views but her opinionated judgments are too hilarious to forgo.

JILL ABRAMS - BOOK ON ICONIC CELEBRITY:

One month after moving to Los Angeles from NYC, Jill landed an unimaginable position working for Barbra Streisand. This colitis inducing, yet life-enhancing experience was enough of a resume punch to assist her gradual ascension up the Hollywood ranks. Historic civil rights activist and former CNN entertainment journalist, Jill Abrams has drafted a humorous and revealing portrait of one woman's odyssey through the complex and often times baffling world of Show Business. From a rare behind the scenes glimpse into the lives of some of the Industry'smost revered stars, comes an intimate collection of short stories, told from an unapologetically candid gay Jewish East coast perspective.

Part professional survival guide, pure amusement as she uncovers the comical truth behind the Hollywood facades and shares the crucial lessons one should know when breaking through the bottom, without the help of A-list connections or a D-size rack. Jill's greatest shock in life was that college didn't prepare her for it. Sure, she was qualified to work at a Nevada Brothel or Melrose Headshop, she was quite gifted, but she wanted more. Off to NYC with BS degree in hand, she spent her gay twenties trying to apply it. Stumbling through the process of elimination, she finally discovered her artistic passion in documentary film production.

She earned her stripes assisting NYC's finest Producers and Directors and at twenty-eight she moved to Hollywood where her wildest dreams quickly unfolded. From her first stint working for Barbra Streisand to interviewing celebrities for CNN Showbiz Today, she paid her humble dues and now comically shares the gritty truth in her new book The Myth, The Muse, The Meshuga. The roller coaster ride from the bottom on up proved both rewarding and painful, a fascinating and funny journey well worth the read.
